TEWDI Uganda is a local non-governmental organization registered with the national NGO Board, Ministry of Internal Affairs. TEWDI Uganda was started in 2009 as a community organization known as Teso Women Development Initiatives (TEWDI) by a group of women concerned about the increasing levels of poverty, human rights violations especially against women and children and the limited access to livelihood skills in poverty stricken areas in Uganda. In November 2014 Teso Women Development Initiatives (TEWDI) was registered with the National NGO Board, Ministry of Internal Affairs in Uganda where the name was changed to TEWDI Uganda.
The organization is currently implementing development programs in Teso Region and other parts in  Eastern Uganda.
